Mr and Mrs Greeves from Hartley Wintney love trains! They have travelled extensively throughout Europe by train. And in the year of their Ruby Wedding anniversary, they decided to visit Canada and use our specialist team for advice to put together a tailor-made holiday using the famous "Rocky Mountaineer" train. Mr Greeves has always promised his wife he would take her on this spectacular train journey, so read on and find out more about their dream trip.

Mr and Mrs Greeves' Itinerary.

  • Day 1.
    Depart London
    Arrive Vancouver
    Arrive into Vancouver and make your way to your hotel. After check in, the remainder of the day is free to explore this great city. Admission to the lookout atop Vancouver Harbour Centre with its spectacular view is included.
  • Day 2. This morning enjoy a three and a half hour sightseeing tour of the city with highlights to include Stanley Park, China town and English Bay. Afternoon is at leisure.
  • Day 3. Take the scheduled coach and ferry across the straight of Georgia to Victoria where you will spend the next two nights. Upon arrival and after check in at your hotel the rest of the day is free to wander along the narrow streets of this colourful city. Time permitting you may wish to visit the unique and unforgettable Royal British Columbia Museum.
  • Day 4. Today pass historical buildings on a sightseeing tour of Victoria, possibly the most English in character of any major Canadian city. You will visit Butchart Gardens, one of the great floral displays. Spend the afternoon browsing through the speciality shops or take a stroll along the lovely inner harbour.
  • Day 5. This morning enjoy a three hour whale watch tour off the coast of Victoria. After lunch travel by coach and ferry for your return to Vancouver.
  • Day 6. Travel on board the ROCKY MOUNTAINEER to Kamloops. En route pass through the scenic Fraser Canyon and Thompson River and watch the spectacular scenery of the Canadian Rockies unfold. On arrival into Kamloops you will be transferred to your accommodation for the evening.
  • Day 7. Continue your journey eastwards to the Canadian Rockies. Pass Craigellachie where the "last Spike" was driven completing the Canadian Pacific Railway in 1885. Before crossing over the Continental Divide into Banff National Park the train will travel through the unique Spiral Tunnels in Yoho National Park. Your fabulous train Journey comes to an end on arrival into Banff where you will be transferred to your hotel in Lake Louise for the night.
  • Day 8. Enjoy a half day tour of Yoho National Park to view it's natural wonders before arriving into Banff town. Among the places of interest are Emerald Lake and a natural rock bridge that spans then Kicking Horse River.
  • Day 9. A morning sightseeing tour shows you the highlights of Banff town before an afternoon transfer to the city of Calgary and to your chosen hotel. On your arrival you will receive your tickets and documentation for the famous Calgary Stampede.
  • Days 10 and 11. Welcome to the Calgary Stampede, where you can experience the world of saddle bronc, calf roping, steer wrestling and bull riding. Other activities at the Stampede include chuck wagon races and evening entertainment.
  • Day 12. You will be transferred to the airport for your flight home.
